Reading this book was an enriching spiritual experience to me personally. The writer is not a theologian. However, God does not so much want the equipped, but He equips those He calls. God placed His hand on this gifted man and led him through repentance to rebirth in an experience similar to Paul's. Despite the fact that he has had no theological training, God guided him wonderfully by the Word and the Holy Spirit into an exciting new life. Steel and concrete are necessary for a firm foundation; likewise the Word and the Spirit are the foundation on which this writer built his faith and testimony.
This book speaks of an intimate, sincere and sustained relationship with the Triune God. He was led by the Word and the Spirit to become born again and received the calling to be a faithful and trustworthy witness of this experience (according to Acts 1:8.)
The core truths he considers imperative are brought across in simple and understandable language. Repentance and rebirth are unnegotiable and the only way to true Christian life. The Word and the Spirit are the decisive forces in this matter. Like a repeating chorus we hear: Back to the Word! To the writer there is absolutely no substitute for the Word of God. He concludes his interesting book with encouragements that compel reflection.

Die lees van hierdie boek was vir my persoonlik 'n verrykende geestelike ervaring. Die skrywer is nie 'n teoloog nie. God soek egter nie soseer bekwames nie, maar Hy bekwaam diegene wat Hy roep. God het sy hand op hierdie begaafde man gelę en hom met 'n Paulinese ervaring deur bekering tot wedergeboorte gelei. Ten spyte van die feit dat hy nie teologiese opleiding ontvang het nie, het God hom op 'n wonderlike wyse deur die Woord en die Heilige Gees tot 'n nuwe opwindende lewe gelei. Staal en beton is nodig vir 'n stewige fondament; só is die Woord en die Gees die fondament waarop sy geloof en getuienis gebou is.
Hierdie boek spreek van 'n intieme, opregte en volgehoue verhouding met God Drie-Enig. Hy is deur die Woord en die Gees tot wedergeboorte gelei en het die roeping ontvang om hiervan 'n getroue en geloofwaardige getuie te wees (volgens Handelinge 1:8.)
Die kernwaarhede wat hy as imperatiewe beskou, word in eenvoudige en verstaanbare taal oorgedra. Bekering en wedergeboorte is ononderhandelbaar en is die enigste poort tot die ware Christelike lewe. Hierin is die Woord en die Gees die bepalende werkkragte. Die refrein klink deurgaans op: Terug na die Woord! Daar is vir hom absoluut geen substituut vir die Woord van God nie.
Die skrywer sluit sy interessante boek af met treffende bemoedigings wat mense tot nadenke roep.

Hy moet ook gekomplimenteer word vir die aanwending van baie tekse. Daar is niks wat soveel krag het as die Woord nie.
